Kenya Safari Centre began in 1994 with gorilla tracking in the Mgahinga hills of south-west Uganda. From there we worked south through Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Eswatini, Namibia and Botswana — eleven countries and a great many breakdowns.
We came back to Kenya because it is the best place in East Africa for road safaris: the parks are varied, the distances are manageable, and the road network joins them up despite its faults.
What we learned on that journey is mostly about what goes wrong. Which vehicles break down, which roads flood, which lodges look better online than they are, and how many hours a day a person can sit in a car before a safari stops being a holiday. All of it is built into the programmes on this site.
We are a small company and intend to stay one. Whoever answers your email also plans your route.
Six services, and nothing hidden behind them. We deliver each one ourselves rather than passing it to an agency.
Twenty routes, from a half day in Nairobi National Park to a twelve-day northern circuit. Each exists because we drove it, timed it and reworked it until the days balanced.
You can book any of them exactly as published. Every programme lists the day-by-day plan, what is included and the actual lodges we would put you in at three price levels.
Most of our trips start as a fixed programme and then change: one more night here, one park fewer there, a slower start because you land at midnight.
We plan by email or WhatsApp, in English or German, and tell you plainly when an idea does not work — a drive too long for your time, or a park at its weakest in your month.
Every programme is priced for a private vehicle. You are not combined with strangers, you do not wait at hotels for other pick-ups, and you stop when you want to.
The guide is the most important part. Ours are Kenyans, licensed and long enough in these parks to read behaviour rather than just point at animals.
We do not hide accommodation behind words like “superior” or “deluxe”. Each safari page names the real properties at economy, comfort and luxury level and links to each one.
Mix the categories if you like — a luxury camp for the two Mara nights and comfort for the rest is a common and sensible choice.
Most people want a few quiet days after a safari, and the Kenyan coast is ninety minutes away by air. We time the domestic flight, airport transfers and handover so nothing collides.
The beach hotel is best chosen and booked by you — you know what you want from a beach better than we do. Tell us where you arrive and we build the rest around it.
At Jomo Kenyatta International someone will be waiting with your name on a sign, at any hour. The transfer to your Nairobi hotel is included in every programme, as is the return.
Before departure we go through the route, lodges, weather and what to pack in your day bag. It takes twenty minutes and saves a lot of guessing.
